Today a meeting of the coordination committee on the implementation of the All-Russian physical culture and sports complex "Ready for Labour and Defence" (GTO) in the Republic of Tatarstan was held in the meeting room of the Cabinet of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The session was attended by Leila Fazleeva, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ildar Sadriev, Deputy Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan, Eduard Ivanov, Chairman of the Regional Public Organization "GTO", as well as members of the coordination commission and heads of municipalities of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The agenda of the meeting included issues on the implementation of the GTO complex in Tatarstan, successful practices of the GTO development in the municipal districts as well as plans for further development of the GTO in the republic.

Eduard Ivanov provided an update on the status of the GTO in the Republic of Tatarstan. He informed the audience that there are 55 GTO testing centres across the republic as of 2022. A total of 553,804 people have completed the norms of the GTO and 290,841 of them have been awarded GTO badges of various merits: A total of 82,132 individuals achieved a gold standard, 102,696 achieved a silver standard, and 106,013 achieved a bronze standard.

In order to improve performance, the country is actively working to equip GTO testing centres with sports equipment and handouts.

The meeting also highlighted the strongest districts in the development of the GTO Complex. Rafis Minnikhanov, Head of the Department for Physical Culture and Sport of the Executive Committee of the Aznakaevsky Municipal District, shared the successful practices of the Complex. The top 10 districts also included Sarmanovsky, Alekseevsky, Buinsky, Spassky, Sabinsky, Novosheshminsky, Apastovsky, Arsky and Drozhanovsky.

After a detailed discussion on all issues, an awarding ceremony was held. Natalya Grechannikova, vice-rector for administration, social development and youth policy of Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, was among those awarded commemorative medals "90 Years of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex "Ready for Labour and Defence" (GTO).
