On September 17th Kazan hosted the Tatarstan Rowing and Canoeing Championship at the Volga Region University Rowing Centre. The republican championship was dedicated to the memory of Merited Coach of the RSFSR Nikolay Stepanovich Teterkin.
Vice President Roman Fedotov congratulated the athletes, and Mikhail Smolkin, Director of the State Autonomous Institution "Sports Training Centre" of the Republic of Tatarstan, also took part in the solemn ceremony.
The competition was held to popularize the Olympic sport of rowing and canoeing and identify the strongest athletes in the Republic of Tatarstan. In the framework of this championship with the support of Regional Sports Public Organization "Rowing and Canoeing Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan" competitions among groups of enterprises and organizations of the Republic in dragon boats "Zilant Cup" were also held.
84 people from different organizations of Tatarstan took part in "Zilant Cup" competitions.
