From June 20 to 23, the Swimming Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan was held in the Akcherlak swimming pool in Kazan. 14 teams took part in the tournament. The team of the Volga Region University of Sports and Tourism took the first team place, winning 22 medals: 12 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze.
The gold medalists were students Olesya Korchagina (50m backstroke, 50m butt), Irina Krasilnikova (100m backstroke, 200m complex swimming), Irina Zlobina (100m backstroke) and Ekaterina Kuznetsova (50m backstroke). The team added one silver medal to the overall score - Olesya Korchagina (50m breaststroke) and two bronze medals - Irina Krasilnikova (50m backstroke), Ekaterina Maisheva (50m butt)
Among the students, Alexey Merzlyakov (100m/s, 50m/s) and Egor Shabalin (1500m/s, 400m/s) won gold. Dmitry Cherkasov (100m backstroke), Ivan Zhukov (400m backstroke), as well as Egor Shabalin (400m backstroke) and Dmitry Balandin (50m backstroke) became silver medalists, who added one bronze (100m breaststroke) to the piggy bank of awards
In the team relay, the university swimmers won two gold medals in the women's 4x200m/s (Irina Zlobina, Ekaterina Maisheva, Ekaterina Kuznetsova and Irina Krasilnikova) and 4x100m/p (Irina Zlobina, Arina Ryabova, Irina Krasilnikova and Ekaterina Kuznetsova). In the men's relay "silver" at distances of 4x100m in / s (Merzlyakov Alexey, Prozorov Semen, Dmitry Salamashko and Cherkasov Dmitry) and 4 * 200m in / s (Merzlyakov Alexey, Zhukov Ivan, Prozorov Semen and Shabalin Egor).
