Teachers and researchers of the Volga Region University of Sports read a series of lectures "About sports, are you a myth?" in the Center of Modern Culture "Smena" as part of a joint project of the university and the cultural and educational institution.
We remind that Associate professor of the Department of Medical and Biological Disciplines, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Alexey Nabatov in his lecture " Does fitness help to preserve youth and health? Explain the Nobel laureates " told the audience about how the discoveries that led to the Nobel Prizes in Medicine and Physiology for 2013, 2016 and 2019 allowed scientists to significantly advance in understanding the molecular foundations of the health and rejuvenating effect of physical education.
Associate Professor of the Department of Biomedical Disciplines, Candidate of Medical Sciences Naila Davletova made a brief historical excursion on " Terrible Force. The evolution of beauty standards from the point of view of medicine". And I tried to answer popular questions about whether there is an ideal body weight, how to calculate it and whether it is necessary to strive for it, and what the race for the ideal weight can lead to and whether it guarantees good health.
Head of the Department of Biomedical Disciplines, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Andrey Nazarenko tried to dispel several common myths about myths about nutrition and sports training in the lecture " Myths vs Science. Modern knowledge about sports, nutrition and health".
Associate Professor of the Department of Biomedical Disciplines, Candidate of Biological Sciences Elmira Shamsuvaleeva presented the pros and cons of the rapidly gaining popularity topic of genetic predictions of sports success to the audience of the " Shift "in the lecture" The genome of the champion. How sports genetics becomes the main factor of success in big sports"
Zukhra Usmanova, Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, Candidate of Psychological Sciences
in his speech, " The Pope is an angel. Why investing in children is risky and can destroy a child's life" tried to answer the most pressing parental questions. In particular, how not to overdo it in education, to raise a successful child without damaging his psyche and turning him into a loser?
According to the curator of educational programs of the CSC "Smena" Alexander Gregorovich, the project of the center and the university turned out to be quite successful:
- Firstly, for the first time we held an event related to the topic of sports. It is sports, not health. Since we have already had specialists speak on the topic of health and medicine. I can definitely say that in addition to the fact that we had an interesting event, it allowed us to take a step towards attracting a new audience. We are interested in sports anyway. Smena has its own football team, we play at amateur team tournaments. If we are talking about sports, it would be interesting for us to continue this topic and make lectures about sports analytics, the history of sports or some particular type.
Alexey Nabatov also had the most positive impressions from communicating with the guests of the lecture hall "Smena":
- This is a very important and necessary project. The audience in the "Shift" is special. These are, first of all, literate and interested people. I can hardly imagine a person who would go to a lecture on such a specific topic just for nothing to do. Probably, they are interested in this, and most likely, they read something on this topic before going to the center. They are prepared and unbiased. That is, very good critics. As a scientist, it was very important for me to get such unprofessional feedback from people who are the main consumers of what we do. After all, there are not so many professional athletes compared to ordinary people, to whom we apply such a concept as mass sports. And for me it was a great opportunity to listen and find out what worries those who do not strive for records, but want to be healthy.
The Smena Center for Contemporary Culture is an independent project that began its work in Kazan in 2013.
