The traditional presentation of student sports teams took place in the Volga region Academy of sports and tourism on the eve of the start of the new season. The number of sports teams in the University is growing every year, as well as in General, the number of students-players.  The rector of the University Yusup Yakubov, as well as representatives of the Ministry of sports of Tatarstan, sports federations and student leagues of the Republic welcomed the participants of 11 University teams in 6 game sports and their coaches in the hall of the Academic Council of the Academy.
Volga region Academy is not only a three-time absolute winner of the Games of Tatarstan universities, but also the only University of the Republic, representing a number of student teams at the national level. Thanks to the high-quality work of the teaching and coaching staff, 114 students of the University are represented in professional gaming clubs. Only the players-academics in the past season, 15 players signed club contracts, including with "Tambov" from the RPL. "A good result, - said the head of the Department of theory and methodology of football and hockey of the Volga Academy Valery Pokaninov. - Football and hockey leagues have successfully integrated into the educational space of the University. We are leaders in these sports and solve the problems of training. Last season, we prepared a player of the youth national team of Russia. This year we solve new problems-updating of structures more, than half, change of trainers. They will have to prepare teams capable of achieving success."
In the new season in basketball, volleyball and Rugby colors of the Academy will protect the men's and women's teams. In hockey and football tournaments, the University exposes two men's teams, the men's team represents the University in handball competitions, because women's tournaments are not held yet. The second team of hockey players this season will play in the division "Bachelor" of the Student hockey League of RT. The second football team, which reached the final of the all-Russian tournament in Krymsk, will again compete for the championship in the competition, which will now be held under the auspices of the NSFL.
The first football team of the Academy was headed by a pupil of Volgograd "Rotor", candidate of pedagogical Sciences Nikita Tkachenko, and hockey - graduate of the Academy Sergey Lukin. The latter is not to be envied, he will make his debut in early October in Barnaul at the international tournament with the participation of student teams from the Czech Republic and the United States. This was announced at the presentation by Executive Director of SHL RT Marat Kurmashov.
Changes on the coaching bridge and in the volleyball men's team of the Academy, which performs in a professional tournament, being the farm club "Zenit". The importance of the joint project of the club and the University was once again confirmed by the personnel decision of Zenit bosses, who sent Alexander Serebriannikov, Vladimir Alekno's long-term assistant, to Kazan Academy:
- I want that players of my team with due respect and responsibility treated that are a part of this big and nice sports family of Academy, - the new mentor of team noted in the welcoming speech.
Chairman of the sports society "Burevestnik" Emir Kharisov was glad that every year in the family of "academicians" added participants and winners of the main student starts – the world University games.
In total, more than 250 students of the University play in student teams, getting game practice, the need for which was emphasized by the rector of the Volga region Academy Yusup Yakubov. "A non - playing student cannot become a qualified coach in the future," he said, addressing the student-athletes. – At the same time, it is important for us that students study and receive a quality education. This is an absolute requirement. A student must earn the right to play through his studies!»
 Last year's debuts of Rugby and handball student teams became a successful "replenishment" in the family of players of the Academy. Despite the lack of these specializations at the University, it is hoped that their success, the team will make sports so popular that the Academy will be able to count on a set of students in these sports. 
The beginning of a new season is the best time to celebrate the heroes of the past! Head of the Department of mass sports and recreation Dmitry Dorogov on behalf of the Ministry of sports of the Republic awarded for special merits in the field of physical culture heads of departments Sergey Pavlov and Lyubov Botov and senior teachers Vladimir Gogolin and Dmitry Denisenko. At the end of the presentation, the most devoted fans of sports teams, students who attended the largest number of matches received prizes. Among them are Yulia Fokina, Firuza Murzina and Amina Gumerova, who attended more than 20 games of the season.
