In the Volga region Academy of sports and tourism ended the hottest time — admission campaign. As last year, the University has gained more than a thousand freshmen. The quality of admission is growing year by year — so many masters and candidates for master of sports of Russia Academy has not yet accepted. Rector Yusup Yakubov in an interview with the sports edition of "BUSINESS Online" summed up the campaign.
FRESHMEN FROM 56 REGIONS
Rector of the Volga Academy of sports and tourism Yusup Yakubov points to a stack of papers with graphs, tables, charts: "Dynamics of admission." This summer 1022 people entered the University. 34 of them are foreigners, 238-Kazan citizens, 348 came from other cities of the Republic.  Another 402 -43% received-residents of other regions of the country. "For the first time we did not increase the number of applicants in the set — continues Yakubov. "Last year, the Academy reached its design capacity and now works exclusively on quality."
The rector spoke about all these indicators last week during a direct line with Pavel Kolobkov, who traditionally receives reports from rectors of 14 branch universities of Russia before the start of the academic year.
- The Minister understands that the Academy copes with the tasks, — says Yakubov, — while having a serious material base and a large tax burden.
The material base of the Volga Academy is one of the best universities in Russia. It has at its disposal 7 facilities built in Kazan for the Universiade 2013, part of the Village and the academic building. All these buildings are gradually filled not just by visitors, but by students. According to the development program approved by the Ministry of sports of Russia and signed by the then Minister of sports Vitaly Mutko in 2020, the Academy should train 4 thousand students. Now-3348, respectively, another thousandth set will perform the task. In order to reach such indicators, the Academy had to become popular primarily outside Tatarstan. "We are growing at the expense of the regions," Yakubov confirms. — It's a big party-there'll be a big release in time. The Republican labor market is a very narrow segment for us. We want students to get an education in the best conditions and return to the regions to work in the industry with new standards."
In total, students from 72 regions of the country study at the Academy, freshmen represent 56 of them: most of all this year came from Udmurtia (52), then comes the Samara region (42), followed by Bashkortostan (41). "Note, — points Yakubov, - from Moscow and the Moscow area-11 man! Although there are two sports universities".
INFLUX OF CANDIDATES FOR MASTER OF SPORTS
One more subject of pride of the rector-level of sports skill of arrived, their categories. This indicator of quality is a sign of future victories. The Academy has already received its first medals — freshman swimmer Ilya Sibirtsev won silver and bronze at the Junior world Championships, which recently ended in Budapest. "We have 193 candidates for master of sports — more than ever — says Yakubov. - Masters of sports, as well as last year, 86. I am convinced that if there is mass character, it will always give results. Yes, there is a possibility that some of these athletes will not be able to realize themselves, but the chances of two hundred more than one. These are young guys, who are 17-18 years old, and they are masters of sports and KMS". Special attention should be paid to skiers. Among them at once 10 masters of sports. "In skiing at this age to get the title is very difficult," explains Yakubov.
But not everything in the Volga Academy is reduced to sports results. Although almost 400 people enrolled to master the profession of coach in one of the 19 represented in the Academy of sports. For the first time there was a set of three other areas-fitness industry, physical training and sports Analytics. "Fitness is a very popular area," says Yakubov. — We didn't manage to open a set, and employers lined up for experts in turn. The market system immediately grasped the prospect, especially since from 2020 in Russia for the payment of health services will be able to get a tax deduction, as for paid training or treatment."
Physical training and Analytics, on the contrary, are not mass trends, but no less promising. There are almost no specialists of the Soviet school left, and now the clubs are forced to invite them from abroad. It's time to raise your own. "Most of the applicants are our best bachelors," Yakubov said. — There are also children from outside who passed competitive selection. I have deliberately left the place. In this case, we will produce piece goods, an individual approach to all".
With the increase in the number of students, the Academy held a recruitment of teachers. "We searched all over the country, processed a large number of resumes. We paid attention to several factors. It was important for us that the person already worked in the sports sphere, knew branch from within, - the rector explains. - Required academic degree and experience. Individually met with each applicant. The work took 16 people. Only two of them are from Kazan."
The academic year begins in the Volga Academy on September 9. Nonresident students will have to settle in the Universiade Village, which was updated for the WorldSkills professional skills championship.
