In the Italian city of Naples ended the Student games, where athletes from the national team of Tatarstan won 11 medals. 9 of them — representatives of the Volga region Academy of sports and tourism. At the end of the tournament, the Academy entered the Russian top 3.  Particularly distinguished swimmer Tarasevich, Grigory — he has just four awards. "BUSINESS Online" asked to comment on the results of the tournament of the rector of the Academy Yusup Yakubov.

Юсуп Якубов: «Неудивительно, что плавание у нас на особом счету»

«NATURAL RESULT»
2019 was busy for the Volga region Academy in terms of international student starts — the winter Universiade was followed by a summer one, and in both tournaments the University has a wide representation. In Krasnoyarsk from Academy there were 10 athletes, and they brought to Russia 11 medals. In Naples, the pace did not slow down: 11 athletes and 9 medals.
"Our students performed more than adequately, and this is a natural result, — said the rector of the Volga region Academy Yusup Yakubov. — We actively participate in the development of student sports, we perform in many sports — not only presented at the Universiade, but also others. Of course, the final result could be better — we always work to the maximum."
The most successful was swimming. Grigory Tarasevich won the "gold" in 100 meters on his back, took the "silver" in the 200-meter and "bronze" in the 50-meter, as well as a silver medal in the combined relay 4×100. Irina Prikhodko received a silver medal in the 800m freestyle and a bronze medal in the 4×200 relay.
"We have a qualified team of coaches - explains the success in swimming Yakubov. — Also, high-level students study at the Academy, there is competition between them. Given this and the developed infrastructure, it is not surprising that swimming is on a special account."
During the Universiade, it became known that Tarasevich received a call to the national team and the world aquatics championship, which is now held in Guangzhou. There will be two more students of the Academy — Alexander Krasnykh and Nikita Korolev.
Back to the Universiade. Surprised table tennis: Sadi Ismailov brought from Naples two "bronze". "By the way, we take part in all student table tennis competitions and occupy leading places — men and women. This is also not an accident," the rector said.
Volleyball players were a little disappointed and finished the tournament with bronze. The team had two representatives of the Academy — Andrew Surmacki and Alex Kononov. In the group, the team took first place, in the ¼ finals won against Japan, and in ½ lost to the poles. In the match for third place, the Russians defeated France (3:0).
Also, the Academy had a chance to get a medal in clay pigeon shooting, but it did not work out: Sergey Demin was in the lead in the preliminary stages, but eventually took fourth place. "Wooden" medal took and a jumper in water Alexander Belevtsev, serving in paired with Karina Shklyar.
Anyway, the final result is 9 medals. In General, Tatarstan has 11 of them. "To develop student sport, we need a competitive environment that forms everything else. There is such an atmosphere in Kazan, and it helps to identify the best, to find your hero. There will always be someone who claims high places," Yakubov said.

"WAS SATISFIED WITH HER PERFORMANCE»
The main hero of the Universiade for the Volga region Academy can rightly be considered Tarasevich. Yakubov even calls it the ideal model of student-athlete.
"Intellectually developed guy - describes his rector. — Very literate, very. We strongly respect him both as a student and as an athlete. He masters the programs, delivers everything in a timely manner, achieves results."
Previously, Tarasevich combined his studies at the Volga region Academy with a bachelor's degree at the University of Louisville, and the specialty was extremely unusual for an athlete — a mechanical engineer. "I am most interested in aerospace technologies and renewable energy, composites. He wrote a scientific work on lithium-ion batteries, it turned out well," — said earlier swimmer in an interview with "BUSINESS Online".
Now he is studying for a master's degree at the Volga Academy of management specialty. According to the results of the bachelor's degree in high school athlete received a coaching education.
"I am satisfied with my performance, — Tarasevich said in a recent conversation with our publication on the results of the Universiade. — It turned out to swim for the best result at the "fifty", to approach him at other distances."

The challenge at the world Cup became Tarasevich complete surprise. "I inform the team that you will need including preparations for the world Cup. Therefore, although not originally planned, was ready to some extent. The mood, as always, fighting".
The only negative impression of the Universiade is the organization. "She was limping, to say the least, — said the swimmer. — Everything was very slow and late. Buses were constantly lacking, and had to wait a long time, but this was offset by excellent accommodation and food on the ships."
Not everywhere attach such great importance to Student games, as in Russia. Initially, the Universiade 2019 was to be held in Brazil, but due to financial problems the country resigned. The tournament was urgently transferred to Italy, and Naples do not have time for proper training.
Wherever and with what level of organization the Universiade would take place, the Volga region Academy has big plans for them. In Naples, the University entered the Russian top 3: the medals he was ahead of only the Russian state University of physical culture and sports and the Smolensk Academy, where representatives of the Russian national team in fencing and gymnastics EN masse study.
