From 17 to 19 may in Rostov-on-don will be held the penultimate tournament in the framework of the championship of the National student football League (NSFL), in which the team of the Volga sports Academy will play with the teams of the southern Federal University, the Russian University of Economics and Tambov state University. The hosts of the tournament are the leaders of the Premier group of the NSFL, "academicians" are located on the 6th line of the standings, and on the lost points – on the third.
The Academy team lags behind the sfsu team by 7 points. The gap could have been smaller if not for two draws in the first spring round of the season. In General, the meeting with Rostov students on may 17 becomes a key for "academics" in the fight for the championship title (ahead of the team and the Kuban state University). The final tournament of the NSFL championship will be held from 5 to 8 June in Krymsk, where at the same time – from 4 to 8 June - the final tournament of all-Russian football competitions among student teams. The Academy team will also take part in it. Recall that last year, "academicians" became silver medalists of this tournament, losing to the winner only on the difference of goals scored and conceded.
Selection in the final of the all-Russian competitions, as you know, passes through regional student tournaments. The team of the Volga region Academy received the right to once again represent Tatarstan in Krymsk, winning the Student football League of Tatarstan and winning the first football trophy of the season for the University. Moreover, the "academicians" scored a victory in the League three rounds before the finish, beating the CFU team (2:0), and in the final round on may 8 defeated the knitu-KAI team (3:0).
It should be noted that in the Student League of Tatarstan, the Volga region Academy was represented by the second team, coached by Dmitry Denisenko. The team, under the direction of Airat Gainullina, plays in the championship NSFL. Moreover, during the season, several players from the second team "went to increase", strengthening the main.
