A student of the Volga region Academy, Vladislav Artemiev shock spent the last month, becoming the winner of two chess memorials and finished second in the Russian Cup.
In Chelyabinsk Artemiev excelled at the Memorial match. In the competition in rapid chess (rapid) Artemiev scored 8 points, ahead of the second prize-winner by two points. The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Chelyabinsk grandmaster Igor Kurnosov, who died at the age of 28.
At the home memorial of Rashid Nezhmetdinov with the participation of chess players from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Spain and the United States Artemyev scored the same number of points (7) with Tigran Harutyunyan. But it was higher in the standings for additional indicators.
But at the stage of the Russian Cup Vladislav became the second, losing only to Aleksei Sarane from the Moscow region. Artemiev scored seven points in nine rounds, behind the winner by half a point. Another Tatarstan participant of the tournament Artem Timofeev finished eighth in the group with athletes who scored 6.5 points. Ramil Faizrakhmanov with the same amount of points and closed the dozen strongest.
