The third module of the retraining programme ‘Tourism Territory Development Management: Project Approach’ started on 12 July at the Centre for the Development of Human Resources Potential of the Tourism Industry. The Centre was opened on the basis of the Volga Region University as part of the national project ‘Tourism and Hospitality Industry’. The programme involves 23 teams from different regions of Russia.

The programme is aimed at developing Russia's domestic tourism and increasing tourist flows to the regions. Within each module, the teams study different aspects of tourism activities and apply their knowledge in practice, defending an applied project and implementing it in their regions. The third module is devoted to financial models and business plans. Maxim Golovin, the financial director of MC Hotel Patriot, is responsible for it. He not only provides a knowledge base on the topic, but also shares many years of practical experience.

‘Although the programme is quite complex, it has a practical aspect and is aimed at developing tourism in the regions. In the third module, we look not only at current methods of preparing financial models, but also create our own models from scratch using the example of tourist areas. We model and calculate those business processes that are recommended by the Russian government. This is necessary for more efficient analysis and future implementation of projects. We also evaluate and dismantle inefficient processes of other departments. This allows participants to look at projects in a different way and understand whether they can be implemented effectively,’ said Maxim Golovin, the third module instructor. - Each team comes with its own background, with the specifics of the region. Therefore, on the one hand, it is necessary to tell about the general factors that influence the success of a tourist object, and on the other hand, it is important to take into account the peculiarities of each individual region. That is why the whole programme is structured sequentially - the teams pass a module, studying a separate sphere of tourism and, forming the knowledge into a whole, defend a real project in their regions’.
