World Health Day has been celebrated since 7 April 1948, the day the World Health Organisation (WHO) Charter came into force.
In honour of this holiday, the Russian State Social University organised a round table "Health as a Value and Personal Responsibility of Student Youth", which was attended by universities across the country via videoconference.
From the Volga Region University, college students joined it together with Chulpan Galieva, head of the department for social and educational work, and Elvina Timasheva, deputy director for educational work at the college.
Everything began with online exercises, during which the students of the country stretched in friendship. Then Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Health Protection Committee Evgeny Nifantiev, Assistant Head of the Moscow Health Department Svetlana Braun addressed the students. They appealed to young people to maintain a balance between stress and well-being, and reminded them that health has physical, mental and emotional components that must be taken care of for a quality life.
"The value of healthy lifestyle is that it helps us to preserve and increase all other main values that lead us through life. Good health is the foundation of creativity, self-realisation and longevity. To be healthy means to be in harmony with yourself and with the whole world," summarised Olga Petrova.
