Academy-Kazan volleyball team completed the ninth round of the Russian Premier League A championship with two wins. Last weekend, the national student team hosted Moscow MSTU on the home court of the Burevestnik Sports Complex.
The matches were fairly even. Maxim Maksimov's charges got off to a flying start and kept that rhythm for three games in each of the two match days.
In the first meeting all three sets ended with a similar score of six to ten - 25:19, 25:17, 25:15. In the second match the guests tried to play against the opponent, but timely made changes helped "academicians" to save their advantage and bring the score to 3:0 (25:22, 25:19, 25:23).
Maksim Maksimov, head coach of Academia-Kazan, stressed that at the beginning of the season the boys gained the necessary experience which improved their level. "We started playing better, the team matured," the team's coach noted. - For these games I set the goal to win, and it was lucky that both times we were 3-0 up. Our game was more interesting. The visitors struggled more with their mistakes than with us. Now we have away games, we will have to defend our place in the group.
