From 1 to 7 October in Krasnoyarsk, in the ice Palace "Crystal arena" and on the indoor skating rink "Pervomaisky" was held international hockey tournament STUDENT HOCKEY CHALLENGE - test before the start very soon the world winter Universiade. Five students of the Volga region Academy (Airat Valiakhmetov, Alexey Dmitriev, Dmitry Makarov, Aidar Nizamiev and Aristarkh Volkov) played in the team of the student hockey League "West", the team was headed by the coach of the University team Anvar Valiakhmetov. Our team took the final third place. 
In total, 8 teams from Russia, USA, Czech Republic and Slovakia took part in the tournament.  Russia was represented by the Western team, the Eastern team, the winner of the championship of the Barnaul "Dinamo-Altai" AND the Representative of the championship of the "Power" FROM Tambov.  Rivals in the group stage of the national team " SHL West "were FGSU (USA, Florida), UK PRAHA (Czech Republic, Prague)," Dynamo Altai " (Barnaul).
 "Academicians" held the group stage of the tournament brightly.  Trio of University students Aristarkh Volkov, Alexey Dmitriev and Dmitry Makarov without any discounts was the best in the team. In the opening match of the tournament "West" defeated UC Praha (5:1). The score in the match was opened by "academician" Alexey Dmitriev from the transfer of Dmitry Makarov on the 7th minute. On the 13th of Aristarchus wolves with transmission Makarov doubled the lead of "the West." At the first break, the "Westerners" left, leading in the score 3: 0. In the second period, Makarov to a two-gear added abandoned washer, and the third Aristarchus wolves with the transfer of Dmitri Alexeev scored a brace.
The next day, the team" West "defeated the winner of the tournament" Dinamo-Altai " (2:1 in shootouts). And again composed of representatives of SKHL distinguished student of the Academy: Alex Dmitriev opened the scoring in the 3rd period.
In the 3rd round, the squad of Anwar Valiakhmetov defeated the American team FGSU (Florida) with a score of 10:4. And again on leading roles in attack team were our students. Aristarkh Volkov recorded on his account 2 points for performance (1 goal + 1 pass), on account of Alexei Dmitriev goal and two assists, with the same goal statistics completed the meeting Dmitry Makarov, one goal scored Ayrat Valiakhmetov.  
In the semifinals, the rival of our team was the Slovak "UMB HOCKEY TEAM". The Russian squad failed to overcome the resistance of Slovak students (1:4). Largely due to the fact that the" academics " in this match to replenish the scoring failed.   
In the match for third place "West "beat the team of the League" East " with a score of 3:2 shootouts. In the main time of the match, the rivals played a draw (2:2). After the first period the "East" was leading 1:0 in the second period Maxim Glazunov from the transfer of "academic" Dmitry Makarova leveled the score. At the end of the 20-minute Makarov brought the team forward, but in the third period the opponents managed to transfer the game to overtime. In the hockey lottery luck smiled "West".
Coach of our team Anvar Valiakhmetov appreciated the performance of the team as a whole and the students of the Academy:
- We performed well, taking into account that we beat the winner and our main competitor ( with whom we had to meet in the final) – the team of the East. And after all, in its structure seven world Champions from the national team of SHL. And we have only one of them.  Besides, with the Slovaks in the semi-finals due to injury has not played wolves. In fact, we were left without a shock link Dmitriev - Makarov – Volkov. As for our students, I will only say that more than half of the goals of the national team are on their account. Makarov is recognized as the best striker of the tournament. But they will get to the national team on University games hardly, so have no experience of performances in professional teams. From our children only Airat Valiakhmetov in the expanded list.
