In the first match of the tournament "academicians" lost (0: 1) to the team of Orel, the next day won the first victory of the season - over the newcomers of the League from Kaliningrad, the Baltic Federal University team (2:1), and in the final round went peacefully with the hosts.  
In a victorious meeting the double was issued by the master's student of Academy Anatoly Saveliev, and in a duel with owners the student of the second course Danil Kostylev caused a stir. By the way, the team of the Volga Academy also has a football player, declared for the season for the main team of "Rubin". This is a third-year student, defender Adil Mukhametzyanov.
In the new season in the NSFL team of the Volga Academy joined the updated composition. The team was joined by several recent students: a pupil of the famous Academy.Yuri Konoplev Ilya Carriers, past the school "Rubin" Vildan Ermilov and Ilya Snezhkin. Among the newcomers and students of the Academy, who had not previously played for the team: Airat Gainullin, Almaz Gilmutdinov and Oleg Zakharov.
But the main change is on the coaching bridge. The team was headed by Airat Gainullin, known in Kazan for working with the youth team of FC Rubin. Football career of the new coach of the student team was held in Tatarstan teams "Neftekhimik", "KAMAZ" and "Rubin", as well as in "Anzhi", Irkutsk "Star"and Ulyanovsk "Volga". Shortly before moving to work in the youth team "Rubin" as an assistant coach, Gainullin coached the second team of the Volga Academy.

It's warm there, football is played all year round, a large selection of football students... in my opinion, the specifics of student football, first of all, is that the teams change every year, and during the season they play with differences, as sometimes the coach has to change up to five key players. Replacing a completely different team... I Think that the new season will be interesting. I am familiar with many guys from the Academy, in the training process will get acquainted even closer, the players also know me and gradually get used to my requirements. The desire to prove themselves to them is huge, because for many this tournament is an opportunity to Express themselves and continue their football career. Many claim in the PFL. Thus the student League itself popularitywith, and students embody the dreams of professional football... Predictions for the upcoming tournament can not give, but I think we have a good team, so we just take it match by match, in every match play to win. Of course, the University management sets us the highest goals and we will try to make sure that the guys are psychologically adjusted to the next match.  
After the match with Urfu team, Airat Gainullin summed up the team's performance at the start of the season, noting that he was generally satisfied with the game of wards, who showed more and more collective football from match to match.
