On behalf of the Ministry of sports of the Russian Federation and myself, I am happy to congratulate the employees of the sphere of physical culture and sports, athletes, coaches, sports veterans and all fans of physical culture on the professional holiday – the day of the athlete!
This year, the sports industry celebrates the 95th anniversary of the formation of the Federal (state) and territorial Executive authorities in the field of physical culture and sports in our country.
We are all United by one goal – the formation of a physically healthy nation. The increase in the number of citizens systematically engaged in physical culture and sports remains one of the priorities of state policy. By 2024, we should reach 55% of the total population of our country.
The success and achievements of our athletes in the international arena make a significant contribution to this task. Courage, willpower and skill that was demonstrated at the XXIII Olympic and XII Paralympic winter games 2018 in the Republic of Korea, the Russian athletes won the hearts of sports fans all over the world. The strength of character shown by the national team of Russia on football in the past in our country the world Cup.
We hosted the most important football tournament in Russia for the first time and have done a great job in organising the Championship, the legacy of which, like other international competitions, will serve new generations of athletes and athletes for a long time.
