On August 3, the European aquatics Championships started in Glasgow and Edinburgh (Scotland). The Volga region Academy is represented at this tournament by a Quartet of athletes-swimmers Grigoriy Tarasevich, Nikita Korolev, Kirill Belyaev and a jumper Nikita Schleicher. Unfortunately, Aleksander Krasnykh, a master's student of the Academy, misses the championship on the recommendation of doctors.
In swimming competitions in Glasgow Academy students have already participated in several competitions. Grigoriy Tarasevich finished his performances in the competition at a distance of 100 meters on his back at the stage of preliminary swims, as according to the regulations in the semifinals, the team can be represented by only two athletes. Gregoriy has shown the third result among all participants, but compatriots Evgeniy Rylov and Climent Kolesnikov has covered the distance faster. Today Tarasevich in the Russian team successfully performed in the mixed relay 4X100 (mixed swimming). Gregoriy started first and led our team forward, breaking the 100-meter for 53.22. Today on the evening the endgame relay, and tomorrow Tarasevich is sailing 200 meters on back.
"Academician" Nikita Korolev at a distance of 50 meters butterfly at the preliminary stage of the competition had to start twice. In the "swim" with Ukrainian Sergey Shvetsov he lost and failed to qualify for the evening semi-final. August 8 Korolev starts at a distance of 100 meters butterfly.
In competitions in diving "academician" Nikita Schleicher in the fight for medals has not yet entered. It is declared for participation in four types of the program: in individual jumps from a meter springboard and from 3-meter in a mix, from a 10-meter tower (individually and in a mix).
A 3-cadet of the Academy Kirill Belyaev will swim in open water. The competition will be held from 8 to 12 August. And the venue chosen one of the most beautiful places in Caledonia - Loch Lomond, which in terms of water volume is second only to the main lake in the region-Loch ness.
