In the Volga region Academy of sports held a solemn ceremony of awarding diplomas of postgraduate studies. Completed training in 2018 Galina Petrova (06.06.01. Biological Sciences), Ekaterina Gubaeva, Azat Nurmukhametov, Aliya Salakhutdinova, Alina Safiullina and Nicoletta Serebrennikova (49.06.01 Physical culture and sports).
Handing diplomas, the rector of the University Yusup Yakubov said that he hopes for a quick defense of graduate students-graduates of candidate's theses. "In graduate school, the Academy, first of all, prepares personnel for itself," commented the rector. This is confirmed by the decision of the Academic Council of the University, on the payment of a one-time premium of 200 thousand rubles to the protected teachers. This solution should remove the financial burden of protection on teachers. The fact is that the new educational standards for the protection of graduate students of scientific and qualification work is not the protection of the candidate's thesis, so even after completing their studies in graduate school, not everyone comes to science.
About the duration of the program and the expected effect told the Vice-rector for academic affairs of the Volga region Academy, candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Almaz Galimov:
- The practice of stimulating protection is also in other leading universities of Russia, but for the first time we propose the method of "financial gingerbread" based on the results of the thesis defense. The incentive allowance is paid to the teacher who has worked at the Academy for at least a year after the approval of the HAC of the results of the thesis defense. Proposed amount (from 150 to 200 thousand rubles) defended the candidate compensates for the cost of the participation in scientific conferences and publishing scientific publications in the period of thesis preparation, and also repays the cost of the invitation of opponents and the payment of services of the dissertation Council. In addition, a month before the defense of the thesis teachers can go on sabbatical with the preservation of wages. This is an additional incentive for those who do not have a degree. The teaching position is competitive, so the presence of a degree is a serious competitive advantage for a young specialist. In addition, the defense of the dissertation gives the opportunity to grow up the career ladder and gives a significant increase in salary.
Despite the fact that the Volga region Academy meets all standards and 66% of teachers have academic degrees, the University needs qualified teachers with academic degrees and titles. Currently, the Academy is actively developing master's programs in various fields of training, and to teach and be the head of the WRC (final qualifying work) undergraduates need a degree. We expect that in the near future at least 20 young teachers and graduate students of the University will defend their dissertations, so the program of financial incentives for protection is designed for 5 years.
