On June 21, the final stage of the VI all-Russian summer Universiade 2018 started in Belgorod. Volga region Academy immediately joined the fight for the main awards of the competition. In total, more than 5,000 athletes from 80 universities of Russia take part in the main student competitions of the country. They will compete for 202 sets of awards in competitions in 12 sports: badminton, Boxing, volleyball, handball, athletics, table tennis, swimming, Rugby 7, Sambo, Taekwondo-WTF, fencing and chess.
Join the fight for the medals in the middle of last week in the Belgorod representatives of the table tennis from the Volga Academy of sport in the men's competition became winners of tournament in a team competition, the girls took second place. In parallel, the final chess tournament was held with the participation of chess "stars" of the Academy - sophomore Vladislav Artemyev and undergraduate Olga Belova. "Academicians" - chess players have succeeded, taking the second team place. Additional points to the team of the University were brought by the Academy's Sambo wrestlers who performed in Omsk. 
Today in Belgorod started as competitions of all-Russian Universiade fencing, where I went four of the "academics"of foil. In Saratov in struggle for awards shall become badminton players.
At the swimming tournament, which starts in Omsk, the colors of Tatarstan will be defended by 12 students of the Volga region Academy: Elizabeth Bazarova, Olesya Korchagina, Daria Golovin, Darina Sergeeva, Nikita Korolev, Alexei Merzlyakov, Pavel Kutashev, Vladislav Kaun, Igor Lebedev, Dmitry Zelenin, Sergey Mordovin and Ivan Manin. As you can see, the Academy in Omsk will be represented by only one participant of the upcoming major start of the season – the European Championships in water sports – Nikita Korolev. Two other our "collections" Alexander Krasnykh and Grigory Tarasevich won't take part in the final for good reasons. Tarasevich is preparing for the CHE in America on a specially designed schedule, not providing for a business trip to Russia with a flight across the ocean. Red specializes in medium distances (200, 400 meters), and in Omsk in the competition program includes only 50 and 100-meter sprint. For the same reason I did not go to Omsk and Ernest Maksumov. However, as noted by the head coach of Volga Academy Delovski Maxim, Omsk swimmers are going to win. After all, the previous all-Russian student competitions they won, and since then the team, according to Dedlovskaya became stronger.
The main competitors do not change. These are St. Petersburg, Moscow and Krasnodar, as a rule, delegating two teams to the tournament.
