More than 12.3 thousand medical services were provided last year in the medical and sanitary unit of the Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of the Volga Region University. Specialists also conducted over 2.1 thousand in-depth medical examinations of athletes.
On the basis of the medical and sanitary part of the research institute, medical support is provided for the teams that became champions and silver medalists of Russia in 2023 - "Dynamo-Ak Bars" men's field hockey, "Ak Bars-Dynamo" women's field hockey, rugby -clubs "Strela".
In addition, medical and biological support is provided for the teams “Zilant” - rugby, “Sintez” - water polo, “Academy” - volleyball, etc.
The medical and sanitary unit also conducts medical selection of children for sports schools in Kazan, the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as students of sports schools in other regions of Russia (Ulyanovsk and Kirov regions, Moscow, Krasnodar).
In addition, medical and rehabilitation measures were carried out for athletes from Saudi Arabia and Iran.
In total, more than 3.3 thousand athletes are registered with the medical and sanitary department of the Research Institute.
Let us note that last year new methods of recovery and treatment were introduced in the medical unit, such as: low-amplitude stimulation of the musculoskeletal system, local cryo-pressotherapy, plasma therapy. New methods and programs for ongoing research into the functional readiness of sports reserves have been developed and implemented, such as genetic testing and blood coagulometry.
